Summary/Objective 

The Winery Manager is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of our winery, implementing tough decisions, keeping costs down, focusing on building a growing, lasting and sustainable business, working with the team on budgeting and financial projections, fielding daily calls and acting as “The Face” of the winery to the outside world. This individual will lead the team in daily operational functions, while also focusing on the financial, promotional and club acquisitions targets and achieving metrics of the Sweet Oaks. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with strong interpersonal skills and wine knowledge who will interact and chat with people to promote an exceptional visitor experience.  Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.

·        Manages and performs the daily needs of the tasting room, sales, and general operation of the Winery.

·        Responsible for taking control of costs and increasing sales.

·        Provides sales, financial and marketing data, reports, trends, resources and counsel to the COO. Provides information to all employees regarding their employment policies and benefits, rights and responsibilities.

·        Collects and submits inventory, sales and tax data to the bookkeeper.

·        Updates POS data and instructing employees on changes.

·        Oversees staff schedules.

·        Conducts ongoing wine and merchandise training and trains all tasting room staff on sales system and sales techniques in order to increase tasting room and retail store sales.

·        Oversees special wine events both on and off site.

·        Responsible to inform COO about the tasting room facility’s day-to-day needs such as: kitchen, bathrooms, office, patio areas, recycling, changing light bulbs, heat problems, water problems, general repairs in the tasting room, etc.

·        Promotes tasting room and vineyard patios for rental events.

·        Works with the COO to develop budgets, forecasting, and a tracking system that is simple yet provides the details needed to quickly respond and course correct when needed.

·        Financial management including tracking budget to actual performance against key tasting room metrics (i.e. visitor traffic, spirit sales, etc.) and understanding of the inter-relationship of those metrics. 

·        Works with customers and potential customers to plan social events, business events, private distillery tours for groups. 

·        Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

·        Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

·        Strong management history in the service and/or hospitality industry and in the wine industry.

·        Experience in tasting rooms, event planning and POS systems required. 

·        Knowledge of regional wines.

Supervisory Responsibility

The Winery Manager role has supervisory responsibilities.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and typical work hours and days may vary. Work schedules are subject to change based upon business necessity.  Must be able to work weekends.

Physical Demands

This would require the ability to be on your feet all day and lift 40 pounds, lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
